Default Could someone knowledgeable please critique this map?

This map was tuned for a longtime customer by another tuner. I was unavailable due to personal circumstances, and he was anxious to get his car tuned, and wanted numbers. Prior to this tune he was running for at least two months on a basemap I generated for him in Crome Pro 1.2. This map seems to be in an earlier version.

Basically, on his way home from the tune, he melted the pistons on his fresh sleeved 2.1l LSVTEC.

I know what is wrong, but before I run my mouth, I would like a little backup.

i bet the 2d version of those fuel maps look like a rollercoaster.

did someone forget to press the enter key on boost table tool for ignition retard?

car have ungodly tiny injectors as well? those values look very low

how much boost?

1. Yep

2. It sure seems like it, but you think the problem would show up during the multiple dyno pulls

3. No, it actually has 550s, but the tuner scaled it for 370s. Don't ask me why.

4. 10-12 psi SC61 when it was basemapped originally. Where it is now, I don't know. We will see when it is fixed.

must have been a non-load bearing dynojet, i've seen it happen like that before, where maps were ****.

if it was 550s, then may nto be as lean as I thought it was, by looking at the high cam map, as it shoudl atleast have like 10-20% more fuel than low cam.

timing is just crazy though..

You got it right about the Dynojet. The tuner claims to be EFI101 trained.

The sad fact is that with a current version of Crome, and a newer EPROM programmer he could have just fine-tuned my basemap. Instead my 27SF512 70ns flash ROM was tossed and replaced with an old 27C256 UV eraseable 200ns EPROM.

Yeah, but I want never use a base map from another tuner. At the same token, I would use 2d/3d maps.

I do not know why people use the UV chips anymore.

I mainly tune in 2D. You just get an overall better look at the maps.

BTW, the fuel maps are complete crap. Uneven fuel lines, crossing columns, sharp transitions, etc, etc.

The "tune" looks like complete ****.

Efi 101 cert = ****
Too much timing + who knows what kind of a/f ratios = melted pistons.

Good luck to your friend.

I guess this guy doesn't think pulling timing out from low-cam matters.

There is the answer why the pistons melted. The fuel map also looks like a damn joke.

I've been through the EFI classes. All they do is go over theory from a book and if you do the advanced course you get to run a dyno. At the class I was at with Mase the users were only allowed to make changes while at a steady load. Then I believe they could do a full pull. It's a great class and teaches many fundamentals. But just because someone reads you the information doesn't make you an over-night tuner.
