could my eg pull on a carrera ????
hey I got a 93 hatch with b16 turbo. i had a ls trans for a while but just swapped it for a gsr, i believe it to be a huge difference. just curious if you guys think i could keep up with a high end sports car on the freeway because my civic seems scary fast (to some of you guys its probably slow...)
b16a 395whp/243ft-lbs at the hubs at church.
thank you for any opinions you may have. and of course this is a hypothetical question and i have no intentions on racing illegally.

There are a few variables that come into play here. For example, are you starting from a roll or from a stopped position? That may change the outcome seeing as our cars aren't the greatest at jumping off a start line. Beyond that, i would look at the power to weight ratio of your car vs the Carrera. Gearing will obviously play a role as well...
Do a little research and you'll get your answer

youll walk stock evos and stis from a roll unless you suck at driving. they put down like 200hp stock to the wheels.
its those fp red/green/35r/6262 evos you gotta watch out for

That being said, 400 whp today isn't really that much. I see more and more cars everyday with 450-500-600 whp in their 350Z's, Vettes, Mustangs, etc.
One thing for sure, no one will say your car is slow and you won't get blown out of the water unless your opponent has some crazy power going on.

Yea I didn't mean to imply he would be a Carrera GT...maybe just a plain ole Carrera haha.
I raced a GT last summer coming home from work and I didn't start pulling really until deep in 3rd gear and into 4th. Those cars are no joke man.

What type of highway race?
Those guys in their German cars don't stop until they are out of gearing..ROFL Trying to beat a Carrera GT on the highway means you better have enough gearing to go up to at least 180+ mph.
Good luck beating them in a Civic, even if you had 550+ WHP. You will need everything, from good gearing, aero (car has to stay straight and stable), high redline (9.5k), and good tires that can withstand high speeds but still yield great traction (drag radials = fail for those 160+ prolonged pulls).

This would be lovely to watch! But unfortunately i dont see the civic taking the race against a GT! Especially a loong run.. i see that ending up pretty bad for the civic in more ways than 1
If your car is weighing in at 2400 lbs with you in it, then yea...with about 400 whp you should pretty much beat anything STOCK on the road. I'd say you could run up there with a stock C6 Z06 from a 2nd gear pull on. You'd walk Evo's and STI's all day if they were stock.

with these high end sports cars have alot more top end, most 400-500 hp hondas can pull em from about 50-60 to 120 ish, then after that they reel us back in

It was a 60-140 race and then we let out for an upcoming corner. Not sure what mph a stock type R trans is at 10,000 rpms...160+ I'd assume, but yes, if we had pushed beyond that he clearly would of won simply because I couldn't of gone any faster lol.
Not sure I agree about a C6 Z06 necessarily destroying a 2400 lb 400 whp Civic. I definately love Z06's and am not a huge fan of Honda's to be honest lol..I grew up on Corvettes, but if I want to be fair about it, I think that would be kind of a close race. I'll try to find some youtube videos.
damn ive beaten alot of highend cars on the highway, with alot of different imports. a 500hp eg vs a new gt3 is very sad race. to me the best benchmarks of howfast u are is to get a buddie with a bike to run you. production cars cant beat a 600 really.but even 600cc bikes can go 70+ in 1st so you gota make sure u get a rider to go allout not jus toyin with you. when u hang and beat with litre bikes thats fun!

A non Z06 vette will get killed by a 300+ hp civic. I've raced a c6 in my 260whp integra and pulled away like nothing from 60-120 then I stopped.
