how much am I looking to spend for the techedge DIY kit? With and without the display?

I believe right around $176 last time i checked w/out the display and O2 sensor.

Add another $30 for the sensor and 70? for the display. About.

Instead of the display, you can use a $20 palm m100 or m105.
Also useful if you want to datalog of course.
However, the display IS a hell of a lot easier to see at a glance,
you just dont necessarily need it if you have a palm.

where can i get the sensor for $30? is it on the techedge site?

There is a link on the techedge site. However, my local vw dealer has them for $38. Its only like 2 bucks more than ordering online, after you figure in shipping. I just buy my sensors there since its more convenient. Also, instead of buying the sensor cable from techedge, you can buy the 8-pin connector from radioshack (ham/CB radio mic plug) and the clip/pins/gromets you need from the vw dealer. Should save you another couple bucks. I have all the part numbers at home, but i believe they are on the techedge site also.
