Ok so yesterday i finally started up my ls vtec build. Its a b18a1 bottom end with Darton DRY sleeves, bought the block used and had my machine shop look at it n said it was fine so i bought it. Bought everthing else new, cp pistons, eagle rods, had the crank balanced mircopolished, cleaned, honed, line honed, Basically its a brand new block. Had the head check out new seals, milled. Got the car started yesterday getting it all tuned and idelingseeing any leaks and nothing. Car was burning oil i think it was the turbo. Go for a ride down the block and all of sudden white smoke out the exhaust like a big poof of white smoke, smell coolant that sweet smell. Im like down the street take the car back home, check my plugs and have some type of mixture, drain the oil and its coolant mixed with oil... This is a brand new motor. Only thing that i think went wrong was the headgasket because i reused the headgasket but the headgasket never went thru a heatcycle. I torqued it down and found out i forgot to tap the head for ls vtec so i took the head back off and did that and re used the same gasket i was told it would be fine cuz i never ran the car on it. Another thing was that before i bought the darton dry sleeved block i saw that the outter sleever had a tiny crack and another had a chip. But if u know about dry sleeves than it wouldnt matter cuz the main sleeves are perfectly fine. Can someone plz help me out n tell me what went wrong thanks

You've said it... try the head gasket as there's a good chance it's that. Whilst it's off post up some pictures of the sleeves.

Is it true that u cant resuse the headgasket after its been crushed but not thru a heat cycle? I have a pic but its on my phone and have to zoom in on it. Its hard to explain if you dont know how dry sleeves work its like they bore out the stock sleeves and put in the new sleeves in the old sleeves and seems like the old sleeve has a tiny crack and another cylinder had a tiny U shape chip. But the inner darton sleeves are fine so there is no way coolant can get into the chamber unless im wrong..

Can that chip cause coolant in my oil? Its not deep at all and thats not even the main sleeve

Or did i hook up some coolant lines wrong if so what lines should i check n how should they be?

Once the h.g is torqued between the head they crush, once you remove the head the h.g is pretty much no good! and dont think about using that coper spray it dont work good, you spent allot of money on that motor and you overlooked the most important thing the head gasket! take the head off and put a brand new one on for god and country! gl.

Ok thanks guys im going to start with my headgasket getting a new one monday. Someone just told me that if it hasnt been thru a heat cycle u can re use the headgasket and i copper sprayed it the first time maybe the machine shop didnt clean the headgasket right n just put it on as is which probably made things worse. But can u guys see the pic i posted? Will that bother anything? If you would of seen it in person i would think it wouldnt matter and the machine shop said it was fine.

OK so I'm taking off my head n I'm almost there. But when took off my turbo n manifold n saw cylinder 4 port was all oily. Now I was taking off my intake n coolant gushed out from the TB what does that mean?

both could be symptoms of a bad headgasket, as it also seasl the oil ports from head to block-- besides holding coolant in teh cooling passages. i don't know enough about aftermarket sleeves to tell if the gap you are talking about is normal or not, so i can't comment on that.

Took off the head today and didnt see anything wrong except for that there was a rubber o ring around the middle top headstud? Never in my life see this. The machine shop but my motor together. Could that o ring cause for it not to seal right? Also on piston 1,2 are only black n other pistons are still chrome with no black on it is that normal?
