Default Converting stock a/c fan into a pusher....

Can I do this to my 3G Integra a/c fan? I've heard that I cna just remove it, put it in front and rewire it to be a pusher.
Do I just cross the wires and mount it and it becomes a pusher? I want to save some room (and money) and use my stock a/c fan.

Has anyone done this, pics would be very helpful too!
Thanks!!

No unfortunately, the stock honda fans will not run when you switch polarity. I was installing an after market pusher fan and though I would try this so I cut the harness off and reversed the polarity and it wouldn't turn on. Only works the proper way. Only other thing I can think of in order to make it work like a pusher fan is to mount it the same way as it was a puller fan but that way, you will have no shield in front of it...kinda scary if you ask me.

there is no polarity to cross, there is a + and a ground. Ground wont do anything with power and power wont do anything with ground.

the problem lies in the motor, not the wires of the harness

even if it does work, the fin isn't going to work as well because its made to push the air one direction..its just going to "pat" the air, not push it.

I live in Florida and my car never overheats, ever. I boost justabout ever day and no problems. Patting the air,No! . The fan is nothing more than wire wound around a magnet. Wheen you reverse the porarity it does not know the diff all it knows that the current is coming from a diff direction and it will follow. Nothing technical here. My ac also works great and had this setup for 2 1/2 years in 90+ degree weather. So yes it does.

You can get slim fans at autozone for under 20 bucks, just do that.

So all you did was 'switch' the wires? Did you have to do anything to the fan or motor?

If this doesn't work, I'll try to get a slim one, just wanted to keep my costs down.

Really...show me a $20 slim fan and I'll buy it. Average price is $60.

okay, maybe i fell asleep in shop class.... but a honda fan is nothing more than a DC motor (wires wrapped around a magnet as described above). swapping poles on it is going to make it spin opposite of its originally designed purpose..................................

so ya someone explain to me why one DC motor is different from another DC motor

The thing you kids are forgetting is wether or not the fan blade itself was designed to be a puller versus a pusher. Just because you can reverse the wires and the blades spin does not mean that the fan is actually moving air.

and you think some slimfan from autozone, that everyone always suggests, that was originally designed to be a slim puller isnt in the same catagory? 100% efficient, no... workable, yes.

A slim pusher costs the same as a slim puller.

I *heart* the Honda-Tech bandwagon as much as the next kid but seriously, get the right one.

i understand this, i am simply saying the FIN of the fan was designed to push air turning 1 way, not the opposite.

I'm not going to say that the engineering of the blade is ineffective the other way, i'm saying that it is the setup i have and the fan pushes just as moch air as it pulled. If it did not work, the car would overheat at idle. i even check my car and a friends car and it pushes the same amount he's pulling.

How about you turn the blade around? It will still move the same rotational way, but for this instance, its pushing! Meaning either way, the AIR Velocity moving in and out is pretty close to similiar velocity when you just turn the blade around, but the rotational movement stays the same. But of course, this will be in front of the radiator now, not behind.

Pretty much I mean, is the AIR velocity thats coming in, is the same that is coming out the other end. (its not condensed by any way)

(Facing the front of the car, Leave the Fan alone same direction, but move it out in front of radiator, but to flip the housing around and in front of radiator also) Get my Point? CFM coming in or out is the same.
