Considering a bolt-on turbo....
I am considering a bolt-on turbo set-up for my civic. I have been told that the following are good choices: Drag Gen 3, F-max and Apexi - I definetly want to go with a ball-bearing turbo. I would also like to know what kind of gains in hp and what kind of boost to expect. Any other brands you guys suggest? Look at my profile for the type of car and mods I have already.

you can sell your AEM CAI
DC Sports 4-2-1 ceramic
Those two parts get your turbo kit for around 3100 bucks for the 1.6 you can also use the cheaper version and get a greddy kit. For the boost that the motor will handle is approx 7-9psi . With full interior and all you should hit around 14.2 or so.

I would ditch the Apexi turbo. Doesn't seem to worth it to me. I wanted ball-bearing also but it was out of my league, for now. I took advice of, just get it running with the basics and upgrade later. You can still have fun with a normal bearing turbo! My second first choice in turbo kits was F-max. They take to long to release stuff!! You are luck because you have a platform people make kits for. Good Luck.

Yeah, it sucks that I have to get rid of the header and get a t-manifold-I just bought it about a month ago. Does anybody know anything about the others that I had mentioned? I know it all boils down to 1/4 mile times, but what kind of hp increase can I expect from one of those mentioned?

well drag gen and revhard make good kits. as for gains it depends on how much tuning you do.
make sure you upgrade fuel and suspension, clutch blah blah.
fuel is teh most important though. Maybe look into some kind of engine management. Hondata seems to be good because you can biy what you need instead of paying big bucks for a PowerFc and really not needing all teh features. This si definetely something to look into.
With proper tunign you could probably make something close to or greater than 200whp. Im sure it is very possible at about 9psi. which will be good power and at a safe level.

Yeah, I was thinking that a fuel management system would be good. In fact, I was going to look into getting an AEM high flow fuel injector and with the high flow fuel rail and then getting the Apexi fuel controller after I get the turbo. Does the Drag 3 turbo come with an intercooler?

yes teh drag gen 3 kits come with a intercooler. The added fuel rail and injectors will help but im not sure what a stock ex fuel pump will support power wise. if it can support well enough and isnt maxing out i would keep it. also get a Fuel pressure regulator.

Once you get your turbo, you'll wonder why you ever bought that damn DC header in the first place! We're talking taking seconds off your times, not tenths
