Default compressor wheel issues...

ok, I got a new snail fairly cheap, and when I get it and look at it I see this...

well not this one exactly, but the compressor wheel isn't as claose to the housing as most turbos I have seen. What are the conseqences of this? It spins free w/ no shaft play, looks brand new on the inside, but it just doesn't seem to be as close a tolerance as most I've seen.

the housing does look a little older than the exhaust side, so maybe somebody swapped em out, but will it effect performance?

I've never tried running a turbo with a smaller wheel than the rated housing...I wouldn't have the nerve to either

I think it will not pull air as strong as the correct housing, it would be like drinking through a straw that has a hole in it. no pressure

indeed you are correct sir! after we bolted it up, I would only pull about 9 lbs under full throttle, which in comparison to the 16 lbs I was pulling before, seemed sort of weak.
