Default Compression is too low after headgasket install

I got a new headgasket installed on my b16 and after the instal the car strugles to stay on and now it's got super low compression. It's got 80 on some pistons and 30 on the others of compression.
Now the car won't start. The head was checked at a machine shop and had the valvestem seals and valve guides installed. The valves have been adjusted. The engine was running strong before it got taken apart. What do you guys think could be going on? Any sudgestions?
