Default compression test numbers

1994 LS engine with 115,000 miles
#1 = 180
#2 = 180
#3 = 180
#4 = 190

cylinders 1-3 were a lil' over 180, but i rounded down.

are those numbers good enough to turbocharge my car?
i'm not too familar with the numbers for my engine, so any help would be appreciated..

thanx

yeah yeah, turbo!!!! If you blow it up just rebuild and boost more!!! You should be okay though, numbers aren't too bad.

well i have the exact same car and engine as yours, if people say my numbers are decent, then i'll assume that if your numbers are close, then the motor is still good

Those are good #'s. I have a 1995 B18B teg with 107,000 miles. I've had a turbo on the car for 47000 miles (dragIII) and my compression was 190 (on all 4 cyl.) before turbo and it's still at 190. I use castrol syntec 5w50 religiously, and change my oil every 3000-5000 miles.

Go for it!

What should your comp numbers be on a 94+ ls if your going turbo? Seems like people are saying the difference between the numbers is more important, but if everything reads 140, I'd be worried.
Anything else that should be checked before an ls turbo?

Consistently low is not a real bad thing, it just means that the rings aren't sealing as well as they have in the past. The oddball number is what should scare you.

Other things to check:
Oil pressure cruising at 3000 rpm and warm engine. If you don't have at least 40psi of pressure, then your bearings are on the way out. Just another check.
Clutch: If you have an old stock clutch, it might bite the bullet soon after the turbo is installed. Check it now.

I have thought about the two for a long time and have decided that the supercharger is what I will go with. this will be my daily driver (only have one car right now) I am not going for huge hp numbers right now, I am just doing this more because its fun than anything else......more power low end.....

maybe in a few years I will go with a turbo, although most likely with a different car than a integra......maybe 350z or something I don't know

I've got a 1995 integra B18B and 4 years ago, based on the same rational, i wanted to go with the jackson supercharger.
Then i was comparing the performance from guys on hostboard with those who have tried turbo on this borad and In the end, i went turbo and i've been running turbo for over 2.5 years without a single problem. It's my only car, and i've put over 47000 miles on the turbo without ANY problems. Get the turbo, it will be just as cheap and very flexable and easy to upgrade.

Hey modvp, what kind of engine management do you have, what kind of boost are you running? I've got a hair over 100k on my d16z6 and I'm going to be putting a custom turbo on it in the next few weeks...just wondering what you're doing to make it run so well.

I'm using stock engine management with RC 310cc and vortech 8:1 FMU. I run 7 psi daily and 9psi for fun.

Fuguman,
You should go turbo. #'s are really good. Stock comp #'s are approx 200psi for B18B. You may have some carbon build up or your guage maybe a little optimistic. However, the #'s are consistant.
I'm running a DragIII kit (T3/T4E; 50 trim comp., 0.63 A/R stg.3 turbine), RC 310cc, 2.25 SS Magnoflow exhaust, with greddy profec b boost controller.
