cometic or stock head gasket?
$45 for the honda part, $65 for cometic .030"
this is for a 9psi h22a w/built bottom end. i wasn't planning on lowering compression, but the pistons i wanted are 9.0-9.5, which is a reasonable drop from stock. the .030 would give me a smidgen of that back, right? i don't want to go all out, just get a bit closer to the stock CR.

i'm using cometic...this was off of http://www.nipponpower.com website
"Cometic HP Style head gasket has an extra shim around the combustion area to help seal better for cars with turbo, nitrous or supercharger. Cometic's MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) Gaskets are constructed of two nitrile coated outer embossed spring steel layers with a steel inner layer that provides support to the gasket allowing multiple thickness. Cometic gaskets withstands the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. Once the gasket takes a torque set, there is no re-torquing required. Less clamping force is required allowing for reduced bore distortion."

i generally trust OEM parts more, but since i want the slightly thinnner gasket... do you think the .002" difference will give a small increase in CR, or is that not noticeable? .025 too thin?

Re: cometic or stock head gasket? (newgsrdriver)
talked to cometic. i think i'm gonna go .025" to get a smidgie of the compression back. if i was running a turbo, i'd probably opt for lower compression and more boost, but i don't think that holds as much water with the blower.
anyone disagree? the .007" from stock is worth what, about half a point?

not even a half...i'm using a 0.057" and it lowers my compression to ~9.4:1...also, why are u going to use the regular cometic gasket unstead of the turbo/nitrous one?....according to nippon site, the smallest size for turbo/nos gasket is 0.036"

hmm! so if your .057 vs .032 resulted in .4 compression, give or take, that means the diff between .032 and .025 is .1x, or basically nothing.
good point about the turbo/nos gasket, but i did talk to cometic, they felt the .025 was appropriate for a boosted application. it's still a multi-layer metal gasket. less than that they said
