Default is cold air intake better?

my question is, Is cold air intake better? right now i have my intake routed up sitting right next to my driver side motor mount which is a super tight fit. I was just wondering if i flipped the pipe over and ran the filter to the bottom almost by my wheel like cold air intake would it be better? it will also clear up more space. here is a link to how it is set up now. its the first pic on the thread.http://www.forumshawaii.net/vbb/show...42#post5733242

Yes, it would be better. You could also move the filter up behind the headlight and build an airbox around it that is fed from the bottom and maybe routed to a vent on the front bumper.

ok cool bro thanks. I dont really have much room to make an air box so i think im just going to flip the intake over and run it from the bottom.

Cold air intake is great to lowering the ambient air intake charge, however; more debris water, dust, and all other foreign materials will make their way to your filter quicker than tucked away under your hood. I've never been a huge fan of true cold air intake unless it was a system designed so that you could remove half the piping with a silicone coupler and have a standard intake charge pipe for when it rains and so forth.

i try not to drive my car to much in the rain anyway. plus i live in hawaii so i dont get much rain anyway. but i do agree it is in a place where more stuff could get sucked to the filter. ill just have to clean it more often

the eclipse in the fast and the furious has a T4 turbo with cold air intake so it must be better

seriously though, your intercooler cools down the air anyway so no big deal. seems like problems > benefits

Actually it will make a noticeable difference, I ran a small CAI on my car last summer and saw over a 30deg drop in IAT's across the board, the equals more power..... in the winter I had IAT's in the 60deg range at WOT.
