code 45......?
Yesterday my 97 civic hatchback through the code 45. I got it by jumping a clip by the ecu and it flashes the check engine light. I got the code 45 and was wondering how I could tell if its to rich or lean. My a/f gauge says I'm rich but not overly rich. Is there anyway I can tell the difference FOR SURE of it being to rich or to lean?

code 45 is either your O2 sensor is defective, or there's an open wire between them giving inaccurate feedback in closed loop operations..
change your plugs, reset the ecu and see what happens, if that doesn't help, try to swap the O2 sensors from primary to secondary if you have obd2, if not, then try to find another o2 sensor and go from there..

see thats the thing, I've been driving it for two weeks and it was fine, then one morning on the way to work it just popped the check engine light on. so I don't think it would be the wire. The o2 sensor takes a long time to warm up, I have to sit there for about 5 minutes till it starts bouncing back and forth on my a/f gauge. I'll check the plugs tonight and see what they look like. then I'll go from there.
I looked in a haynes manual, and it said code 45 was to rich/to lean. so I'm guessing the plugs would show if it was to rich, but what do I look for if it was to lean?
