Clutchnet Stage 2 installed. First Impressions Inside...
Install.
Finally got the clutch done today! Clutchnet Stage 2 BTW. I really don't want to do this again anytime soon. I like working on my car, but swapping the clutch is a PITA. Next time I have to change the clutch I think I will just pull the engine. There isn't much more to pulling the engine, the clutch involves disconnecting almost everything that is a pain to put back in.
Here it is. It dosen't look aligned in that pic, but trust me, it was perfect.
Impressions.
There is some chatter, but nothing I wasn't expecting there. What REALLY suprises me is the pedal pressure. I think it requires LESS pressure then my stock clutch!! On top of that it seems to grab great. Once I get used to it I am sure the clutch in conjunction with my engine mount inserts is going to create some great dash shaking action!!!!
Anyone know if there is a break in period with the clutch being a 6 Puck???
Oh, and to stay turbo related, this clutch is for my turbo setup, and should I get a weld around the EGT Tap on my manifold?

Can I ask you, as well as others that have done a clutch swap. Is it hard to do? I want to do it just for the experience, and so I will know how to do it in the future. What type of mechanical skill is required? It just seems like taking a bunch of **** off and puting it back on.......Im sure it isnt that simple though

Well...yea its hard. It wasn't hard in the way that I couldn't understand how to do it. It was just hard in the Pain in the Butt way. Catch my drift?
I have done 2 engine swaps, suspension swap, and many other little things. I know my way around civics pretty well so this wasn't too bad.
The hard parts are:
1. Getting tranny off
2. Getting tranny on.
3. Aligning the bolts for the rear engine mount.

I did my clutch too. Put on an ACT Heavy Duty PP with organic street disc. It is just like he's saying in terms of work. I can't think of any special tools I needed. Just lots of time, two jacks and another person (just to help take it off and back on). It is straighforward enough, but not something that you want to have to complete in a time frame. Give yourself lots of time.
Just think of it like this: it is litterally nuts and bolts. There are just a lot of them and some don't like to budge

I like clutchnet also, but ACT doesnt suck. It depends what pressure plate you get with the ACT that will make the difference.

I've done so many clutches to the point where I can do them with my eyes closed...got it down to just a little over 3 hours with just hand tools on jackstands with one helper...

Re: Clutchnet Stage 2 installed. First Impressions Inside... (HXMan)
you guys are KILLING ME! Change a clutch in a prelude that is hard. I have done a clutch in 4 civics- CAKEWALK. Like I said, accord or prelude, that is annoying.
I just put my act extreme plate with hd disc in last week, I expected pedal pressure to be extremely stiff but that was not the case at all! I LOVE it. I previously had an Exedy cerametallic, and it was slipping hard in about 7 months! Rediculous. I like the ACT so far, I hope I can get at least a year out of this one.
And as far as the flywheel question- I have a fidanza and I like it, revs quick and is smooth. I ran into a problem though: the bolts that come with it to hold the press. plate on are about half the length of the stock ones which freaked me out, so I just used the stock ones with the provided lock washers. Just a heads up on the fidanza thats all.

Re: Clutchnet Stage 2 installed. First Impressions Inside... (HXMan)
nice job
did you do it by only youself???
Also, did you get your flywheel out and get it resurfaced? this is what my friend asks me to do, i am going to do it in the middle of june after my exams
ACT for me, i hope it's going to be fine
Oh yeah, when i read the Helm's, it asks me to get that special tool to lock up the flywheel, coz my brother says, you will need somebody to lock up the flywheel when you put the bolts on the plate, is this true??
let me know thanks

HXMAN: Hey, I'm putting mine(Clutchnet Stage II) in tonight too. Did you resurface your flywheel first, I'm debating on what to do about. I hear it extends the life of the flywheel.

To shift my friends talon you need a leg of steel!
Oh, and I didn't resurface the flywheel. Woops.
If you are removing the flywheel, you will most likely need the locking tool. It wasn't that hard to remove the PP bolts while holding the flywheel with my other hand.
