Clutch choice ?
exedy 2 has a few benefits for a dd if you stay under 285lb/tq. the pedal isn't heavy, just a bit more firm than stock. it also drives pretty mild for a puc clutch. the biggest difference between it and stock is the chatter on launch and in reverse if you try and feather it out.
The springs do make a difference in slip engagement from my experience as opposed to unsprung. I've run Exedy and Clutchmasters and currently run the Clutchmasters FX450 for the TA car, and its very, very smooth.
They help to an extent but from my experience i felt no difference between a sprung and unsprung disc on take off only slight difference when hard shifting between gears.
Well I just tuned my car last night, and I ended up making 374 whp. I didn't check the torque cuz I was too excited with the hp lol. But I have a CC stage 3 6-puck sprung clutch and pressure plate that held this power all the way, and again it feels almost stock.
I make 550whp/360tq on a competition clutch stage 3. This is the segmented kevlar full faced disc. Pedal pressure is like stock and so is engagement. I don't drag race on slicks anymore and the clutch has held up fine. There is no need for a pucked clutch unless you drag race or launch hard regularly.
The stage 3 will hold a good amount of power, it just wont hold up the the abuse of tracking it aka launching it. The higher stages are more durable for hard shifting and launching
basically. i almost wish i would have went this way over the exedy2 just to get rid of launch chatter. while, as you mention the puc ceramic/metallic brake pad clutches like the exedy2 and better can handle hard launches easier, they also are more grabby and chatter.
