Which clutch to buy?
Now with my turbo kit installed, its only a matter of time before the 'ole clutch gives out. I narrowed it down to two brands, ACT and Clutchmasters. I know ACT is very popular, but I like the idea of the carbon-kevlar disc material used in Clutchmasters stage 3 units. My requirements are smooth engagement, holding power, and longivity. Which brand would you guys reccommend and why?
I'd try to find out if you can get the Clutchnet stage 2 clutch upgrade for 300dollars from that Drag Turbo groupbuy without having to buy the turbo. I think it holds 300lbs. of torque and several people like em. When I talked to Ben from importparts.com, he said that it has a stock pedal feel but that it grabs like hell.
Here is what I would do:
Get the ACT HD PP and the Clutchmasters Kevlar disc.
The ACT can hold over 200ft-lbs and the disc will give you extra wear.
I have the ACT with the street disc which is basically a stock disc that is thicker and the HD PP. it is rated to 225ft-lbs. Before, I had a stock clutch and I could slip it really easy at only 7psi (about 160 ft-lbs).
