closed loop question

closed loop question
can i replace my O2 sensor with a wideband completley? also should closed loop be only used in tuning or can you run in closed loop all the time. i am going to be using uberdata and i hear open loop causes some problems.

Just so you know, closed loop is the way a stock ECU runs. Open loop is when the ECU only reads the fuel/ignition maps and makes no corrections
you can replace the stock O2 sensor but you need a wideband controller, not just the sensor. Strictly speaking as long as the ECU sees a circuit on the O2 heater it doesnt care if you have an O2 sensor or not. I'm currently running open loop on a stock ECU as an experiment to have a look at the stock ECU's A/F ratios.
Open loop is extremely useful for tuning, and thats why the closed loop disable is now in uberdata. But you can run open loop all the time without problems if you so choose
