Closed Loop or Opened Loop Wastegate??
Well i now have a chance to route my wastegate back to my downpipe... should i do it?? Whats the Pro's and Con's of doing this and will it hurt performance? I was thinking of doing it because I didnt want to smell like exhaust fumes anymore, but if im going to lose power, then **** it. What's the correct and incorrect way of routing it? Any replies would be greatly appreciated... Oh and I did a search, nothing came up. Thanx Again!
Close that baby up. Sounds and smells much better. Route the WG as far back as possible on the DP so you won't lose power. Make the transition into the exhaust as smooth as possible - i.e. don't dump it in there with a 90 degree bend. I used a 45 degree .... hard to explain but use your imagination.
open loop =moth....f... loud youl will get busted by cop
If you close it properly it wont affect your performance noticably. 18'' from the turbo seems the be the general rule. Might as well do it now instead of later when you get tired of the smell and the sound.

Art and Dustin have already proved that you can run a closed loop setup and not lose any power. Just make sure the w/g pipe re-enters the exhausst ATLEAST 18" away from the exhaust housing. I have been running open since last November but I will be running a closed BOV and w/g soon to add a little more stealthiness to my beater.

Art's is open and was killing my ears (like mine used to) when he was on the dyno last week. Here's my proof of how going closed affects your power:
Open loop : 176 HP
Closed loop : 206 HP
Granted, when I did 206 that was the second run after Vaportrail fiddled with the AFC a bit, but that is almost exactly the HP I was expecting from my setup.

i have an open loop...yeah it is loud...kinda scary too hehe but i mean its only like that if u mash on the gas...regular driving all u hear is the BOV...even when u are on gas hard u can still hear the bov...u can actual here both...almost like my car is making some sort of song hehe...

Well, yes and no. I made more power with closed loop, but not because of the closed loop. The AF was tuned AFTER going closed.
