I just got a Starion intercooler but it's DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRTY. I bought some mineral spirits and I have some heavy duty degreaser to see if that'll work. Anyone know any efficient methods to clean it?
Me too, i just bought a DSM starion I/C and its got some corrosion on it and I wanna get this thing cleaned, I was thinking of just taking a fine wire brush, but any other Ideas would help.
not to sound stupid or anything..but isnt that kind of high for a Starion IC? Maybe because its just where you live but in socal...they should be cheaper than that...I dunno..I was just wondering..not trying to be an *** or anything..
i use a starion IC. when i got the end pipes rewelded i just cleaned it out with heavy liquid cleaner, some water and the air gun. swooshed it around about 20 times. then treated it for runst.
ive used it for a year now without problems

I dont think so, this one came polished and Ive heard they go for around $250. Im gonna sell this in a month or so and get a spearco or maxrev
Well as long as it works and I can still get decent money for it, im happy! I didnt look very hard, just on ebay and thought it was a good deal since all the others were just as expensive
You can also use some brake cleaner...Cleans really well and will not leave any residue which plays a big role when cleaning it. Any type of residue will be a nesting ground for dirt and grime...You don't want that

where did you get that front bumper?
I purchased my starion intercooler for $75 off of recycler.com. It was pretty dirty when i got it. I used two cans of brake cleaner and then hosed it off. Applied a thin coat of paint and polished the ends.
Oven cleaner is really strong, and its cheap. Not sure how the fins are bonded to the tubes though, might not be safe. It stripped the paint off of my aluminum wheels really well, without damaging the aluminum.
