Chucked GSR Rod :(
Heres the story. I chucked a rod in my hatch on the freeway about a month ago. The motor was supposely a 00 GSR with only 80k on it. I was doing a little 4th gear pull only 2 hours after getting it tuned on 13 lbs. It went right after vtec engauged (4600) which i noticed the oil light so i thought oil pump took a crap on me.
Anyways, the setup was the 00 GSR with peakboost ramhorn kit, 57 trim, s2 intake mani, walbro 255, id 1000's and e85 tuned on crome pro on about 13 lbs up top. It was about 360-370 wheel. We werent pushing it that hard and not pushing much torque either.
After I got some time I took it apart and found it wasnt the oil pump. The bottom end of rod stil spun freely on the crank so it wasnt the bearing. Took all the rod bearings out and they all looked fine and had normal wear. mains too.
Wierd thing is after I pulled the head apart. Didnt have any bent valves and also it had the 92-93 gsr cams in it. Which I think are a close profile as b16 cams. Kinda odd. Anyways, I think the motor might of hydrolocked before and this happened as a result. Maybe sprayed too.
End of the day thought: Be careful when buying cars with swapped motors then trusting them to be solid when putting some serious power down.
This was my daily driver but on a side note I had another motor to swap back in that i was actually trying to sell at the time haha. I swapped it in the next day. I know this ones solid so im happy.
Heres the damage:

I love seeing carnage pics. It sucks that it happened, but great you had a spare block to put in. Great numbers too on the peackboost kit. I'm looking at it for my B16 in the near future.

Re: Chucked GSR Rod :(
yea i like the b16. better rod to stroke ratio so less stress on the rod. this b16 i have now made 351 on 12 lbs. cant wait to get another daily and turn it up.
kinda sick of this 57 trim too. i want a bigger turbo. haha.

When he called me and told me it chucked a rod i didnt believe it ... called him a liar and then i found out he was serious... i was like damn that sucks.. it litterly happened a few hours after the car was tuned... NOT a Tuning error... same tuner that tuned mine tuned his and another Stock gsr that made 460whp... i think jdm602 got a friday afternoon motor .... now he is scard to even race the B16T ...
