Check my oil return
My car was smoking, after replacing the oil return and getting a restrictor I decided my turbo's seals were bad. Replaced the center cartridge yesterday. Put a new Steel braided return line on. My battery is dead so I haven't been able to start it up. Does my return look ok though?
I'm worried it is cocked forward too much but don't want to have to take the turbo off and clock it again, because it's 22 degrees out and a bitch, let me know what you think.

It's seems like that to me too.
if you can clock it a little more i would becuase that could be an easy $300 mistake you could fix.

Ehh. . Mine is worse, but I couldn't put it any other way. My turbo seals are still okay. . I think. . .GT32E turbo btw.

Re: Check my oil return (D15B7turbo)
it looks like it's fine. As long as it all slopes down. The oil get's pretty thin once it's hot so I dont think it'll have any problem flowing even if it's cocked foreward.
How long after the bend does it extend? Any way to shorten it? That's all I'd be worried about. Actually, it looks pretty short. I think you're good.

I don't get it though. You can clock the oil inlet and outlet (is that the center cartridge?) seperate from the compressor and turbine. So why not clock it the way you want? Please explain a little

It's tapped high on the pan, no it doesn't slope up, that is just the angle of the picture, it gets almost flat but that's it. If I clock it anymore my oil feed hits the manifold, thats another thing.

Ahhh... same problem I encountered...
I ended up flipping the turbo around because I didn't want to worry about the angle of the cartridge... like this...
This way I can run the cartridge perfectly vertical and I don't have to worry as much about my seals...

i wonder if that would work for the return also. im using the hf amnifold and it sits the turbo so damn low
