CEL 3 & 16 on LS Turbo bogging...HELP!
Well I just aquired this car from a guy who owed me some money so I don't know as much about the car as the owner did but I don't want to go back to the owner for questions and etc so lets just leave that part as that.
I searched and got a few pointers and tips but when I tried it on my car it didn't help at all so I thought maybe I could post up a HELP thread. First of all here is my vehicle,set-up, and symptoms..
1989 Honda CRX Si
91 B18a obd-0 longblock
JE 8:5:1 comp stock bore I believe
Eagle rods
Block guard
Moroso oil pan
Ported & polished
Crower valvtrain
Skunk 2 IM
Act 6 puck clutch
B16 tranny
T3/T4 turbine I don't know the a/f or trim
Turbonetics delta wastegate 9-13 lb spring
SST turbo manifold
2 1/2 inch downpipe
Vortech FMU
Inline fuel pump
Rc 370 intectors
Apexi VAFC
Stock pr4 ecu
Greddy BOV
Other parts I probably forgot but this is what I see and what he has told me. I'm kind of familiar with a b series turbo set but in a 95 civc obd-1 so I thought maybe I'd try some things I did on the other car I had on thos one (about a year and half ago). At full throttle car boggs out at 3.5k and won't go pass that rpm. I disconnected the vafc, fmu and put stock injectors and still same problem. I tried disconnecting the batt and ecu to reset it but still nothing. It is running a CEL 3 and 16. I know I need to tune it but I'd like to fix these symptoms first before I take it in and waste a dyno run. Vacuum lines are connected and looks ok I guess no leaks either. Any advice and help is appreciated

From reading off one of the posts.. CEL 3 is map sensor and 16 is fuel injector. It's weird how I changed the injectors back to stock and it's still pulling a CEL 16. I didn't have that much time today to mess with it but hopefully by this weekend I'll get something sorted out. BTW I did change the plugs today to some NGK BRKE-7 11 or whatever the hell they are but they are the right ones. Gapped at .029 since one of the other members said between .028-.030...
Code 3 is for map sensor and if u put stock injectors in without a missing link or any kind of check valves to fool the map from boost then it will throw a code 3.
well first off i would say trying to diagnose by engine codes on a engine swapped turbo car is pointless. its amazing that we can trick the little bit we can to keep the CEL off on these cars. so i would go to the basics. timing, compression, fuel pressure, air/fuel ratio. usually a sensor malfunction wont have that great of an effect on the running like the effect you are having. sounds like you runnin out of fuel or dumpin so much it cant burn. sounds stupid but most problems that seem hard to figure out are caused by one of the simplist pieces. so check every part of the ignition, plugs, wires, cap, rotor etc... check fuel filter, check fuel pressure, have a air fuel guage???? very important. mine was bogging it was running lean. if you are rich and bogging maybe its too rich, maybe weak spark, clogged exhaust??????
check anything relating to basic parts that control air flow in and out and burn or distribute the fuel. sometimes youll get on the wrong track trying to get to technical with sensors and codes and what not.

Fixed the problem. Had a short on the #4 injector wire, cut and rewired a new clip/plug and works good so far. Now I can take her in and get it tuned properly, thanks for the advice and help from the guys who posted up!

i'm having the same problem too... can anyone help? throwing a code 16 (fuel injector) on a pretty stock LS. problems are: car lagging between 2-4k, but just once and a while. i already switch out the fuel filter, distributor (w/ a working one), spark plugs, and re-did timing.
