Icon4 B series LS Stock Block Turbo

I'm getting ready to drop in my B18a1 and hook up the turbo system in to my 1993 Honda Del sol Si.*go ahead and laugh, but i love that car* looking for a little bit of advice or help from you guys.

what i have so far:

-B18a1 motor with tranny
-eBay cast mani (custom ramhorn is in the works)
-turbocharger T3/T4 .82
-450 blue top injectors
-complete set of turbo piping
-HKS (non rep) BOV
-greddy waste gate (with 11 psi spring)
-inter-cooler
-oil feed/return lines
-boost, oil presure gauges
-b18c ecu (i will be chipping out vtec at the time being so i don't throw any CEL, at-least until i swap to a gsr head)

I believe that's everything so far. what i would like to know is if i am missing anything, do i need a better fuel pump? what sort of hp can i make with this set up? i know ill have to chip the ecu for the turbo. what sort of chip should i run? along the way ill try and post some pictures. but feed back or advice would be much appreciated.

yeah i wanted to get a 82 ar hot side on 400whp and was told not to. you want to get dyno tuned. no exception. get a walbro 255 fuel pump. downpipe? get a omni maf and manual boost controller. what size is the compressor on the turbo?

I think you might run out of injector also. i think you should try to at least find some 550cc evo injectors. I dont think stock block is going to make it long with 400 whp. You can run some cams and valve springs and maybe get there. Check out the b18b setup thread that's where i'm getting all my info from for my b18b stock block build.

he never posted a power goal. I put 300 to the wheels on dsm 450s.

how much power do you want? I'm guessing if you want 200whp+, its advised to get a walbro, but do some more research or wait for someone to chime in to confirm. Its not that hard to install man, if I can do it, you can too. Google search how to install it, very easy.

I'm at 293whp with 14psi on a 60 trim cold side turbo, this is with arp studs though, which you should look into.

how much power do you want..? The stock block/head can handle 300whp safely, but you its recommended to run arp head studs, no matter the amount of boost in my opinion. $100 for extra security.. Count me in.

Shoot for 250-300whp. Not hard to achieve. You will probably need an omni MAF sensor. I think a stock one is only good for 10.5-11psi. (walbro is about 70$, arp head studs about 100$, omni MAF is 100$)

You mean MAP (manifold absolute pressure), Honda's dont use MAF (mass air flow).

The tune is the most important thing. It will ultimately determine how long the motor will last, but sub 300whp LS's are everywhere.

.82 AR hot side is pretty large for a stock motor. Look into 57 or 60 trim T3T4 .63 AR. Also 450cc injectors will be limiting you and will max out pretty quick.

The goal is roughly 400 HP but that's down the road. Was already looking at the ARP head studs, and the walbro. I know how to install it, was just wondering if its okay to run without at the time being.

As for right now goals on stock block boost is around 275-280. 300 if I can, if not it will come in time after the block build.

I was sent the wrong shift linkage but and shipping it back Monday for the correct one. So during the down time of waiting for parts to come In I'm meeting with my tuner and chipping my ecu (comes with free map after chip) I'll order the walbro as well. What size pump should I run? And if I switch to a trim turbo. What's a good size?

Thanks again for all the help guys!

a .82 a/r is good but being a stock block and that turbo is non ball bearing ..i would recommend going to a .63 a/r..I ran a precision 5857 .63 on my stock ls with just arp head studs.. with that big of turbo you will be spooling pretty late..will you be having this setup street tuned or dyno tuned?

I already told you what a good turbo would be. Either a Garrett T3T4 57 trim .63 AR or a 57 trim .63 AR.

Okay I'll look in to purchasing a trim turbo. And I'm planning on a dyno tune.

What are the pros and cons to dyno and street tunes

Should I street tune now and dyno later? Considering I'll be building the engine up.

As far as I know street tunes locally are 300$, and a dyno tune is 350$ from rich. To get the most power out of your set up, dyno tuning is the way to go. If you want to get some fun in before you complete your build, expect to pay for two tunes, I am.

How much are you looking to spend on a turbo? Dont get any ebay crap. I just bought a 600hp t3 precision turbo for 500$ shipped with a 1 year warranty.

That sounds like a pretty good price for that turbo. And I do expect to pay for at least 2 tunes. I'm tuning with face time tuning. In Tacoma. I can get pretty good prices there, and was referred from a buddy

I would recommend a better clutch, and LSD. LS and B16 transmissions share the same differential, and are weak. GSR trans would hold up fine but at tha power level on street tires it will get spin crazy!

i know the ls trannys are not the best but the differential is welded on my tranny. sure parking lots will suck to drive through but eh.. i also have a gsr on the side right now. but i cracked the case open to gut it, we're ordering custom gears

obviously ill use a boost gauge, what other gauges are NEEDED for the turbo setup? im only looking to use 2 gauges if possible. 3 TOPS!!! i don't like the look of 13478483195431 gauges in the car

Really only a boost gauge is needed but a good wideband is a very good idea as it an oil pressure and coolant temp gauge.

Where are some good spots to buy turbos from for a good price? No ebay turbos.
