Turbo Choice Turbonetics or Precision
Hey Everyone,
Looking to get a turbo for my new build all of my components are there and ready to get my last piece of the puzzle in. I listed my build below.
B18 LS Block
Darton Sleeves 85MM
Arias Pistons
Eagle Rods
B16 head
GSR cams
STR Intake Manifold exact same thing as Golden Eagle
BBK throttle Body
STR fuel rail
1000cc ID injectors
255 Walbro HP
SLS T3 Top mount manifold
Tial 44 mm wastegate
JDM CTR crank pulley
Skunk 2 pro series cam gears
Moroso Oil pan
S300 Hondata
I have all of the above goodies just need a Turbo. The last turbo I ran was a Precision 6765 billet wheel turbo .83 A/R. The turbo was very laggy for a street car.
I want something that is about that size again but with a quicker spool. So I leaning towards a Turbonetics GTK series turbo ball bearing oil cooled to avoid running any additional lines or a Precision 6766 Billet Ball bearing air cooled turbo.
Any suggestions from anyone out there. Looking to make 500 WHP daily driven but with room to grow. Im sure its preference on the turbo but I would like to hear why you have to say.

Re: Turbo Choice Turbonetics or Precision
honestly a 6765 is a bit on the large side for just 500 hp if you are wanting that much i would suggest something a bit smaller like a 6262 or something even a little bit smaller.

The precision 6765 is not too big for a 85mm block in my opinion but I think my big mistake was going with a .83 A/R hotside. just too much area for ags to bypass the turbine wheel. Im thinking a 6765 or equivalent with a ballbearing set up and a .63 hotside will be a good balance. I dont want something that spools so fast im just ripping off the tires and I also don want a pig of a turbo either that starts to build boost at 6-7k. although the 6765 I had made really good power at 11k RPM.

No sense in using the 6765 with a housing that small. The 6765 will make 950+hp if built right and so for 500whp its serious overkill. The 6262 is the absolute largest I would go, because you can make a touch over 800whp on race fuel or E85. If you dont plan to make that much power, I suggest the 5858.
