Catch-Can Woes
I know Im probably beating a dead horse on this one, but please bare with me. I have just finished reading ALL topic posts on the definitive catch can setups, and I'm still confused. Two things Im still unsure of, and wanted some clarity. I have recently bought a Cusco catch can with a big breather filter installed on top, and wanted to get it installed as soon as possible. I was just going to put 1 line form the valve cover to the can and the other line to the pre-turbo intake pipe. After reading that topic discussion, im still unsure of it being a good idea? Some say that it could damage the turbo and such, where as others say it will be perfectly fine? Also some say that the ports on the back of the block (B series) would be better, which im perfectly fine with using, but I dont want to order from Z-10 at $25 a pop. (2 being needed). Some one said that it was a Honda part that would fit in there and could be used to attach your lines for ventilation. UGHH... Im just so confused on this...BTW...Dashers' thread was great for info, but the pics are down, so it was a little hard to figure it fully. Thanks alot and feel free to post opinions to help me out
to understand catch cans you need to understand how PCV systems work. what different styles of setups there are, and why people choose them.
its not going to damage anything having your catch can routed to your turbo intake. that is how most stock FI cars operate from the factory. they come like this for emissions reasons, not performance.
if you have a breather on your catch can, it is designed to run open vent. which means you dont run a vacuum line to your intake. you just run lines from your block and valve cover directly to your catch can, and the pressure that builds inside goes out the air filter on your catch can.
done. This is the most common setup and easiest. you could technically just run hoses to the ground and vent your crank pressure to the pavement.
the plugs on the back of your block can be had at the honda dealership, i believe they are prelude coolant plugs. search for that.
I run open vent and will keep doing so until i slash cut my exhaust.

I guess i was more worried for the vaccuum i might need to pull some of that crank pressure out, but it will find its way out as i have seen in the past.(i.e. Distributor O-ring). With the 2 lines, out the back of the block i should be fine than.

thanks alot. thats weird, because i think i read through that whole section on catch cans.
just ordered from 2 from honda, and the washers, for under 20 bucks. thats way better than i expected. pics when install is done
