Default Catback Exhaust?

Ok I just turbo'd my Ls and now I'm in the market for a catback exhaust. What would be a good sounding (good quality) catback? I've had friends tell me HKS, Greddy Evo2, and the Thermal (would the Thermal even bolt straight up?). Tell me what you think Fellas. Thanks.

Also, where would be a good place to get a deal at on whatever you suggest?

If you want to save $ get a 3" magnaflow muffler and hit up kteller for a 3" pre-bent for $225. You just have to weld it. You could do this and pick yourself up a mig welder and still be under the cost of a brand name exhaust.

I'm not looking to get anything custom....I'd prefer to stick to a Brand Name.

oh one of those guys...brand name. What's better than saying that you made it yourself? It's up to you if you want to spend an extra $350 for a name and the same performance.

no, its just my car looks nice and I don't want something with a million weld marks. I bought a full Greddy Kit so it wouldn't look like **** (and I still got performance). Now if I had a 94 Teg I wouldn't care but my car is only a 99 and I want it to look as new as possible.

Anyone know where I could get a Thermal 3" for cheap?

Why would there be a "million" welds every where? The kit that kteller makes has the same amount breaks in the piping as any other brand does...

If you want 3" it's either Thermal or custom. Before you decide to get a Thermal, you might want to read this thread:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=943238

You're paying $600 for a fully stainless exhaust, and the flanges are mild steel. What a rip. KTeller is the same way, but at least the price is more reasonable. You need to have flanges and hangers welded on, though. If you buy the piping and piece together stainless flanges and hangers, it's really expensive. Stainless flanges are about $40/each. I bought 3/8" stainless rod, but the local shop wanted $50 to bend the hangers, so I bought some from SMSP for cheap. I bought a stainless Magnaflow from Ebay for $85. There was only one local shop that did stainless welding, and it looked like ****. I guess it's MIG welding, but I call it GLOB welding. No pretty coins that I see posted on this forum. Kind of disappointing when he charged me $200 for labor.

I paid about $350 shipped for a KTeller stainless exhaust with stainless resonator+about $180 for stainless flanges & gaskets +about $20 for stainless nuts and bolts+approximately $20 for stainless hangers + $85 for the Magnaflow + $200 for welding and installation = approximately $855 = not ******* worth the hassle. Just buy the Thermal and bolt it up yourself. **** this custom bullshit unless you can weld yourself.

you can get a mig welder and a gas bottle for under $300, using SS wire it'll all be stainless. I guess I just like doing things myself though. Good luck with what ever you end up doing.

It's listed at $575 shipped, but he says to "call for the special price."

I would go with a greddy PE 2 I have it on my LS and it is a nice looking exhaust. Looks just like the APEXI N1 exhaust where it is slanted and it comes in 2.75in diameter all around piping (LOUD but comes with silencer ). If you're into looks, the PE 2 is the one for u. But if u want one that is a true 3 inch and something that doesn't grab too much attention than thermal all the way (ITS LOUD and no silencer).

I just want the most useful/functional exhaust possible for my car. Anyone else find some good deals on a Thermal?

Thermals are expensive. Best beat is to look for an used one. It really depends on the hp goal u are trying to acheive. If u are wanting 300hp, then a +2.5in piping will be just fine. Bigger hp range tend to need bigger pipping.
