Catalytic Converter Help!!!
How long does a stock catalytic converter last when boosted? And what are they symptons of a cat going out. I had to keep my cat because of the OBDII sensor.
Ive ruled it down to these
- Bad gas mileage
- stinky smell
- and loss of performance
I reall think my cat is going out and its the excuse Ive been looking for to put in my test pipe!!
Thanks for the Input!

If the cat goes out, you will see a loss in fuel economy. You will also smell the fuel smell, and often a "rotten egg" smell. You will get a CEL with OBDII, probably a "Catalyst System Efficiency below threshold" code.
Instead of ditching it, install a 3" unit from Magnaflow. I use a 2.5", best cat I've ever used.
