Default cat is smoking?

just wanted to get a few opinions as to what would make my cat smoke. Went out for a drive and noticed a cloud of white smoke behind my car. I pop my hood and tons of smoke comes up from near the firewall. I check under my car and the cat is totally smoking like a cigarette. Could i be running lean? Just need opinions or experiences with cat's burning up, im figuring im running really lean so its burning the sucka up. I have a cut out and when i run it open, no smoke comes out of it.

didnt run over anything, i dragged an old lady for a few feet last week but thats about it.

cars bogging but its due to running a chip that is not working perfectly. Its running lean a little so thats the only thing i can come up with why its burning up.
