Default Car Overheating

Let me start off by saying I have an Eg-SOHC-Greddy Turbo, block and head has already been to the machine shop and I have pistons and rods, and the problem with the car is that it overheats often. My mechanic has told me that my intercooler is blocking my radiator from getting air, from the outside, and thats why it is overheating. Is that true? I have been driving the car around for the past few months and it would overheat, here and there, but not on a daily basis.
I have changed the radiator, thermostat, got new hoses, flushed the radiator, and plus changed the head gasket already.
Can anyone help or at least let me know if anything else might be wrong. Im getting a fludyne radiator and fal fan this week but this still bothers me. HELP?

did you properly bleed the coolant?

fan is what i was thinking too...is the reserve tank losing any coolant?... do you have heat?... pull the electrical plug on the thermo housing and jump it with a paper clip to see if the fan kicks on... if it kicks on then reconnect it let the car run and see if the fan kicks on when the hoses get hot...

The fan will turn on and off. It doesnt necessary turn on right away. SOmetimes it will turn on and sometimes it wont. The times that it turns on, when it is overheating, it causes the car to overheat some more. Do you think that is weird? Im gettting a FAL fan this week, so hopefully that will help.

Can you explain in simplier terms. Just pull the plug on the fan and connect the paper clip where? How is the paper clip going to start the fan? Sorry, if ima newb but I dont have extensive knowledge about cars.

He means thermostat housing, make sure the thermo switch is making the fan kick on. Take the electrical connector off the thermostat housing and jump the connection to see if the fan kicks on.

My thermo switch went bad and I just wired the fan to a open fuse under the dasboard so that the fan comes on always, when the car is on. I live in florida so I doesn't get too cool here ever. Or you could wire the fan to the batter and a switch that way you could turn it on and off at your lesiure.

Alrite, i finally got my fluidyne radiator and fluidyne fan in this past weekend and the problem still persist. Can anyone help. My fan does turn on but when it turns on, sometimes, the car tends to overheat more.

Should I just connect the fan to a switch or try to replace the head gasket?

One of my friends said that it might be that the octane for my gas is not high enough and that i should try octane booster and see how that goes. ANy ideas?

bleed the system again. hook up your fan on a toggle switch. and run your heater whenever you're idling down.

im guessing this is happening at idle? hmmm...same stuff happened to me.

i run the heater whenever it starts to heat up but that doesnt seem to help. it would probably go down then start back up again. damn needle jumps back and forth, almost like a rotating fan. I will try to hook the fan up to a switch but taht might not work since, when the fan turns on, when it overheats, it causes the car to overheat some more.
I took the car to the mechanics yesterday so hopefully the can change the headgasket again, its like my 3rd head gasket this year already. Good thing its on warranty and i dont have to pay anything for it.
You think i should bleed my cooling system again? Do you guys think that my offset cam timing might be the problem? Or the octane of the gas i get might be the problem?
I get chevron 91 octane, should i try a blend of racing fuel with the 91?

whats your water to coolant ratio? i suggest using 25% coolant and 75% water.

I am using 90% coolant and 10% water. Doesnt water evaporate quicker than coolant? What is the ratio in your car?

why dont you eliminate the possible head gasket by doing a CLT test that will tell you if the head gasket is blown and save you the headache of pulling the head if that is not the problem?????? any shop should be able to do this for you or with a air compressor and the leak down tester you can do it your self

Drain out the 90% coolant, 10% water

Honda stocks this "Pre-diluted" coolant. Its a 50 50, which I recommend and so does Honda.

90% coolant IS too much

90%, 10% - my guess is that's why. the boiling temp dramatically lower and freezing point is much higher than a 50/50.
always use a 50/50 in any car

Do u have factory fan or aftermarket. make sure ur fan is wired correctly. just wire the fan directly

I started seeing white smoke come out my exhaust yesterday. Now, its the head gasket.
I will flush my system after i get it back from the mechanics and use make sure it's 50/50 next time.
I am using a Fluidyne fan and I will make a switch to have the fan on with a flip of it.
Its just too damn hot in Cali to do it but I guess whatever it takes to make my ride run good for the dyno and track next month.

Well, i got my car back this weekend and I flushed the radiator and put a ratio of 50/50 in it. The headgasket was blown and was replaced, Now all I need to do is hook a switch up to the fan.
My mechanic said to hook the radiator fan and a/c fan, so that they will both run and make it less likely to overheat. Any truth to that?

Alll I can say is that your mechanic sounds like an idiot, don't ask him any more questions, just ask here.

2 fans means more air than 1, come on now.. common sense.

Antifreeze holds in heat, water is really the only thing in the cooling system that is cooling the motor down, the coolant it simply there to keep the water from boiling.i bet that 90/10 ratio is doing that.

i hardly have any coolant, 75-80% is water. water cools, coolant keeps water from freezing and raises the boiling temp.

I've been driving my car around for the past couple of days and the car seems to be fine. Like I said, the ratio is 50/50 now. Should I put more water than coolant?
