car bogs when going into boost
hi all.
Am running a fully built h22a4 and when am driving as soon as my boost guage
says 0-5psi the car bogs bad then ofter 5psi the car pulls hard then i start to hear
a noise when i hit 12-15psi almost like a crackling sound my a/f ratio guage says am on the rich side. i add more fuel at certin rpms and the car run like **** and i dont want to take away to much fuel either.has anyone encounterd this with there boosted porject and if so what can i do to get my car running right?
thanks.

man..........you're more than half way there. you've got to get that thing tuned before you ruin a perfectly good built motor. i'd kill to have that built motor right now. if you're not gonna get it tuned then it was a waste of money, and you can make 500 right now by giving it to me. if you blow it up, you're gonna kick yourself for not selling it to me when it was worth something.
anyways.........get it tuned!!!! is the crackling sound the exhaust?

lets be a lil more supportive...well this crackling noise is it...like a fast popping of popcorn noise...or a higher pitch noise...if its the pop corn popping it could be many things like ur plugs not gapped correctly or bad ignition rotor...give more details about motor and specs of ur fuel management as of right now...

yes it sounds like popcorn haha its funny that comparision is dead on point man.

had to wake this up.... we put a h23a vtec in my boys 97 accord and he now has a greddy turbo kit.... it is doing the same thing!
he has 370 rc's that came w the greddy kit....
People have said that it's a nasty boost leak or the map reading boost... so...

I'm with this guy and others to think you may be pushing too much timing. THe Autometer gauge is really useless after seeing a few in action. I was lucky to have a somewhat "accurate" one in my car. But my buddy had one and was "tuning" his car and thought all was close.... lots of green under boost so he's thinking... "I'm safe... its RICH in boost.... not optimal but SAFE". Finally he broke down to buy the PLX Wideband... what was he doing in boost? really richs with AF in the range of 14-15 AF. Get a wideband if you haven't already... we are all assuming you guys with problems are NOT using a wideband.

just tought you might want to know. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Take your spark plugs out and chk to see if they are still ok, i had a similiar problem and what ended up happening was that i melted my plugs due to it running lean
I had my car supposedly tuned, w/ all the fuel and engine manegement

i don't think it's detnation because my guage says am rich.i tought u only get detnation when you run lean.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Ok, so you mean if I run 40 pounds of boost on my motor with 87 octane in it, it will run OK and not detonate as long as I keep the AFR below 14.7:1? LOL.
Seriously, don't **** around with trying to tune your motor off of a VAFC and an autometer narrowband gauge if you don't have a clue what you're doing.
