Default can i keep the cat?

I currently have an N1 on my car , i was thinking of purchasing a themral 3" cat back and removing my cat, getting a custom downpipe made where the cat would be, is this neccasary or can i keep that cat? Will i see noticable differences without the cat?

Don't know about the fit, but I would say keep the cat, I doubt you will see huge differences, esp if you get a good hi flow cat like a carsound or something equivalent. Besides, there are enough things this day ******* up the environment.

You won't see a huge power gain from a test pipe (no cat), and gutting the cat can actually cause you to lose power. Go for a high flow cat...they are cheap and they work.

yea hi-flow cats work for a couple months than they deteriorate, well thats my experiences with them. I would either keep the stock unit or go with a test pipe. but as the other guy said don't gut your stock cat it will, in most cases hurt performance

I say ditch the cat... test pipe and keep the cat for emissions tests.

on a f/i setup, you shouldn't lose horsepower from gutting or removing the cat... maybe a little torque cause the reduced backpressure/ increased flow.

Turbos prefer the least amount of exhaust restriction possible. You will make more power with the less restrictions you have. You aren't going to lose torque or power. We aren't talking NA setups here.

don't gut the cat it sounds like ***. I would go with a test pipe if you don't have any problems with emission tests where you live!

I know on turbo cars without cats they sound fine unlike N/A cars without one.
