Default Can this Block be saved?

upon pulling the head from my daily driver found this damage to the deck area and top of the sleeves. Motor is a b18a1, stock 81mm bore, just wondering if getting the block decked/ slight overbore to 81.5 or 82mm would clean it up?
I just hope the deck isn't screwed up beyond repair

Yes you have options-
Sleeve it
Oring it
Or mill the crap out of it and run a thicker head gasket

Sleeving it would be your only option, damage is too deep to be milled away.

you'll have to resleeve. how did this happen? did you damage it when you removed the head? i can't see this happening on its own.

Just have around the out side of the sleeve tiged up and deck it down flat. It will be ok i have done this on a nos motor before. It held a 200 kit after just fine. It was also a 82mm.

The damage is too deep to be decked.. you'd have to take probably 5+mm off the deck which makes the motor unusable, Forever....

Sleeve it or find another

Sleeving it would eliminate the problem but depending on his power goals would probably be pointless and a waste of funds that can go to other parts of his build

never intend to ever sleeve a motor, I would go with the CSS process before sleeving. my horsepower goals are modest by todays standards. I'm content with having between 350whp-475whp. Both of my previous cars where 400+whp one was a stock block high compression b16 on E85 and the other a built gsr on 93 octane. Anymore than 450whp isn't street friendly IMO or even fun to drive, spin, spin, spin, spin, spin... **** gets old.

The only way to save it might be to weld it up and deck it back down but i would suggest doing a bore and hone after to be on the safe side.

For an LS block that are a dime a dozen id just pick up another. It would cost more to attempt to fix than it is worth.

I know exactly how you feel, my build has a torque goal, not a power goal... but I expect with my setup I can make the torque I want with 450hp or less.

really 350 is the limit for really good traction but 450 with boost by gear would be the limit. It's no fun driving a car on the street that just spins all the time

And you're right, for your goals sleeving isn't needed but I never considered the CSS process, might want to show them pics and see what they say. I've been debating about doing it on a spare block as well

I believe you mis-read what I was saying. I know this block is useless at this point, other than getting sleeved. I was saying if I ever had to step up to sleeves for another motor I build I would opt over to CSS instead of AEBS Sleeves.
