Default Cams and turbos?

Ok I have a 98 LS and I know its not an ITR but the guys in the integra forum weren't much of a help. You guys are always going back and forth about cams and I know there is a wealth of information for me to learn from most peoplel in this forum. Well anyway, I have some Crower 62404 cams, springs and retainers in my LS. I was planning on installing a DRAG GenIII turbo kit. Would those cams hurt the performance of the turbo? Would the cams help? Should I just use my stock cams? Or should I just get the less lift and duration cams from Crower? Thanks everyone, and please don't flame me for posting in the wrong board, I tried in the other one, but they just weren't much of a help.

are the crower cams like the 403's but more aggresive? if the 404's are more of a high preformance cam shaft, i think you would get a lot of blow-by? which is not what you want. i think if you want to go all out you could get some custom turbo grinded cams to help out with your application.

someone correct me if im wrong about the blow-by thing, i just heard that with more aggresive cams that happens.

Crower does make some cams that are good for use with a turbo for my car, i think I will just get those. Also, will the springs and retainers hurt the performance of the turbo? I don't think they would.... Also, should I get a 3" cat back exhaust rather than the 2.5"? Thanks everyone, Jason.

I believe the Crower 403's are pretty good as a turbo cam. Just make sure you get them tuned whenever you get your turbo.

The size of the exhaust probably depends on how much boost you plan on running. 2.5" won't hurt your car with turbo, but 3" will yield better performance in a moderate/high boost application.

I have crower regrinds for turbo LS's they are great but you should remember that thsi is pretty lumpy for a turbo and that idle will be sacrificed to an extent, these cam have base circle removed. also i found that i needed to dial out some of the overlap, almost no scavenging is needed to bring in fresh air on intake stroke.

Well, The Crower cams seem to be ok even with the boost. When selecting cams for Boost you want as little duration as possible and as much lift as possible. The lower amount of duration will reduce overlap, thus preventing detonation! The higher lift pushes the valves open farther than stock.

The Crower 62404 cams specs are as follows:

IN 249 degree duration & .446" lift (11.33mm)
EX 251 degree duration & .432" lift (10.97mm)

If anything, you may desire MORE lift, but the duration is perfect for boost!

I hope this helps!

Wow I thought the 404's would be too wild for turbo purposes...I wanna see some dynos. Oh yeah as for keeping the valve springs and retainers it wont hurt at all having a stronger valve train. Might as well get some forged rods and valves while yer at it too.
