Buying a used turbo

Default Buying a used turbo

I have searched and read what others had to say. I have said that i wouldny buy a used turbo but now things are different. The turbo claims to have 1200 miles on it which is nothing really but who knows. I know about shaft play so how do i check it for myself just move the spindal back and fourth??? What else can i look for by just looking at it??? Here are some pic they might help

I get the turbo manifold and downpipe for 350 Which i saay if it ***** up then screw it. Need some input thanks in advace

Not being a dick but the picture shows a garret turbo and the manifold is done by a local shop in which they claimed it and they do good work. But it is a garret t3/t4 im not stupid to buy that ****

just try to pull the saft in and out.. and wiggle it back and fourth.. It shouldn't move much at all.. Im talkin like no movement.. It can wiggle a bit because you can assume it will stiffen up some when the oil is inside it. Aslo check the fins for chippage.

Spend the extra 300 dollars and buy a new turbo not worth the pain if it F's up on you.

I would just go to the junk and get one myself. Most of the used ones on here are from the junk. You can atleast inspect the turbo for shaft play or oil leaks and save hella money too.
