Default burning out igniters........

this is the fourth igniter I have gone through in a year. can't seem to find out what is causing it. ignition set up is a msd digital 6 with msd hvc (blue) coil. anyone has any ideas?

what ecu are you running and is it a oem dizzy and ignitors or aftermarket?

its the msd ignition, my friend was having a similar problem until he removed the msd, he said it overheats the igniter until it fails

funny you say that ive had an msd on my car for 3 years never had an ignitor go bad

Yea i Had a msd SC and blew out 2 ignitors in a year, I sold the MSD and never had a problem since, so Who the *** knows, but nothing else changed so i know it was the MSd in my case anyways

im just saying dont be short to look at other stuff thats why i asked the questions i did in the first place.

I am running a Apexi PFC with stock distributor and ignitors.

Every day more and more evidence points to the fact that CD ignitions + turbo = bad. Some seem to have no problems but then there are countless stories of the car either running like crap or the CD ignition burning out. Personally I ran a DIS-2 for about 2 months before I got tired of the constant misfiring and put the ignition back to OEM.

several of us in chicago (primarily obd0 dizzy's) have been killing distributors. i personally have had good luck with my current dizzy-king dizzy, but i killed another, and two others were breaking up badly,, and yet another old OEM left me stranded in the HOOD.

some older dude when i was stranded came up and said i needed to leave before it got dark. that sucked. haha
