Burning oil/blue smoke : Turbo seals or Piston Rings
Hey i've been noticing some blue smoke lately. Only when i hit boost and let off
is when it happens. I havent performed a compression test and or cylinder leak
down yet.
At idle if i rev up the engine i dont notice any smoke. maybe it will only happen
if theres load on the engine.
Its a h22 motor, t3/t4 40 trim .68ar. I've just tried using a oil restrictor but
still notice some blue smoke out the exhaust.

look in the exh housing. is it wet? is there oil coming out of the compressor housing?
if not, then do a leakdown test.

what size is your feed? do a leakdown test if there is no oil in the turbo's exhaust housing.

Re: Burning oil/blue smoke : Turbo seals or Piston Rings (building boost)
this is always a tough one, the oil in the turbo will sometimes burn right away and you wont see any visable signs of oil leakage from the seals. The leakdown test is hard because it just takes one of the rings to create a somehwhat seal and the test will show positive results.
If you want to try something, run a boost gauge off of you valvecover and see what kind of crank case pressure you are seeing. Also take a good look at the plugs if it is buring oil you should be able to see some sort of oil deposits on the plugs.
