burning oil!!! smokin in full throttle!!
i have a 92 civic HB Si with boosted jdm b18c(GSR).
i am currently runnin 10psi because of the boostcreep from the great turbonetic WG. Fuel management, i am using uberdata with street tune.
here is the problem..
it has been smoking little when everything was installed and tuned and dynoed and blah blah..
the thing is that it is smoking a lot more now adays and i lose more oil than before.
I drove it this month for about 1500 miles and it lost about a quart and a half. I hope it's not the rings. what else can cause this problem?
also it was shooting oil out of my head. (that vacuum from teh head to the intake normally and run that baby airfilter) It is not connected to anything nor bypassed. Today, it was smokin out of there and it was shooting out oil from the night before i am assuming because there were oil all over the engine bay and the hood etc..
any kind of advice or help would be appreciated..
thanks in advance

Yor rings are shot. Crushed ring lands are the problem. Do a compression to verifiy this. Motor should be around 190+ and not have more then 30 psi difference between the cylinders. Sorry to break the news.....but its time for a rebuild.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by mike93eh »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">since you say it only smokes at full throttle then its most likely your valve stem seals. if it were your rings or ringlands it would be smoking all the time even at idle. but do a compression test anyways.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Valve stem seals usually dont have enough pressure to blow out the valve cover breather. Definite sign of ring lands. Thats excess pressure and oil bypassing the rings shooting oil back up top.

i didn't think valve stem seals would cause the problem.. i don't have cat or resonator and i know it smokes a little but it just comes out more as i throttle more.. I will do some compression test and see my #'s to verify.
Thanks for all the advice and help.
let me know if anybody else have any other suggestions.
