Default Built Bottom End Costs

How much would it cost to build a bottom end of an LS integra meant for turbo? If you use quality parts, what is the general cost? I'm thinking about turbo'ing an LS integra but would like to build the block for the boost and more horsepower.

Here's a ballpark price range
Pistons 500-600
Rods 300-700
Oil pump 90-150
Water pump ~50
Timing belt ~60
ARP Head studs 100-130
crank/rod bearings 150-200
Head Gasket 60-80
block gasket kit ~50
GEM sleeves ~850
Machine Work & Labor varies

There's more you can do and a little less as well, depends how much power you want the block to handle. A fully built head is also expensive. It all adds up very quickly.

Here is my block costs:
knifedeged Crank $350
balance and blueprint $100
Pauter conrods $682
Custom JE pistons $650
Complete engine gasket set 80 (minus HG)
Copper head gasket $110
Melling oil pump $200
ALL belts $80
Water pump $90
Complete Clevite Bearings $220
block assembly will vary from $500-$1000

I built my block and had my cylinder head assembled for $250. The overbore for the new pistons came out to be an additional <100cc for a total of about 2096cc

It's a real good idea to use Honda factory bearings and gaskets. They just work better!!

HAHAHA LOL

Sorry, that's some funny poo poo.

Haven't worked with cars much? Melling is pretty much the biggest name in oil pumps. Clevite? They manufacture bearings. They're one of the more common names in big horsepower domestics, just like Melling.

Whoa! You know you're stuff! I guess imports aren't the only things you've looked at before.
The Non Turbo Eclipses and Talons of the second generation happen to have domestic engines. - Get this - The engine code is the 420a - LOL!

Melling and Clevite have been around ALOT longer than the 420a, sorry.

I'd say they are a HUGE domestic manufacturer.. but htey still don't have the resources of HONDA to get the bearing for their engines RIGHT.

Get Genuine Honda Bearings/Gaskets. You'll be happy you did.

Something should tell you to use factory Honda bearings when NASCAR is using them.

Default Of coarse!

The 420a was a brand new engine in '95. I never said it was vintage classic but merely that is a domestoc engine and therefore that it's no wonder that domestic aftermarket companies make parts for them.

I got my gsr block built bye JG Engine Dynamics. Got J.E Pistons, Crower Rods and rebuilt oil pump. I needed a crank so that cost me $100 and had it micropolished for $100. After it was send and done with all the bearings and step deck and customs sleeves my block cost me $3150.00 balanced and blue printed. I have over $12,000 into my motor including the Stage 4b which i just ordered off the SGT.
