built 2.0 gsr need help

Default built 2.0 gsr need help

need help i just put a built 2.0 gsr in my car motor is 84mm sleeved block with rods/pistons 9:1 comp and a p&p head with skunk 2 valves/springs/retainers gsr cams with camgears ok heres where i need help went to fire it up and it started right up but did not sound right so i shut it off and checked timing and the exhaust camgear was retarded -8 deg so im scared to start it now that i set it to 0 what to do ??????????

please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skunk2 camgears usually do not come with the adjustment bolts torqued down.

Set everything to Top Dead Center & perform a leakdown/compression test to see if you bent/damaged anything. You may even want to consider pulling the head to ensure you didn't make any contact between piston/valve valve/vale but I doubt you did.

if the valves are bent or motor is off timing the compression test number will be very low
