If you stay in anti lag for any extended period of time you can over heat the turbo and the manifold, you can also damage the head and block if it gets hot enough. I wouldn't use the anti-lag for more than 4 seconds at a time.

puts alot of heat through the exhaust valves.

its fine to use but not for long periods of time. It will shorten the life of the turbo after a while. Id see how much boost you can make with the rev limiter alone. Most cars can pull that psi with a hard cut.

ok...rite now im launching at 6500rpm and its no boost at launch..im using crome with a forged internal stock sleeve lsvtec,60-1 .82ar stg 5 wheel

i just didnt want to use it if its going to shorten the life of the turbo

Think of how anti-lag works. Detonation of the air/fuel mixture is happening when the exhaust valves are OPEN.

Basically, you're shooting fire thru your manifold and into you're turbo. Can't be good for it, lol.

As stated before, It's not really healthy on the motor let alone turbo for a long period of time.
It's safe to use, just remember not to use it for a long period of time.

how helpful is anti-lag? launching without it on slicks that bad? if you have anti-lag set up at like 6500rpm, would it be any worse if you just launched at 7500-8000rpm without anti-lag?

Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt anti-lag used on road race and rally cars to keep the turbo somewhat spooled while off the gas? Are you guys talking about launch control RPM or two-step as they call it? I just wanna know, I dont wanna get them confused.

Again...please excuse my ignorance...but how do you get anti-lag? Is it something controlled by ems, or a chip? Or is it something manual you do to trick your car into making boost, like somehow simulating or tricking it into thinking it's under load? Just wondering.

two step is just that, a second rev limiter for launching nothing different from when you bounce the car off the rev limiter, it just allows you to do it at a lower RPM. the car doesnt create enough exhuast energy off a two step so you have anti lag which adds extra fuel and pulls timing causing the fuel to "explode" sorta which creates extra exhuast energy to spin the turbine faster.

however, ive seen a stock LS/VTEC make 7psi on an HX35 with just a 7K two step so you dont necessarily need anti lag to make boost on launch

Good info.

Corey, do any of the tuning software programs (Neptune, EcTune, etc.) have anti-lag options?

i do believe both of those have an antilag option, as does hondata. Crome doesnt have it.

crome has a 2 step...but when done rite will build boost..ive done it and it works pretty good lol...that is y i asked the question about if it hurt anything...i wanted to make sure nothing will brake if i used it...i think im gona try it next time i go to the track...see how much of a diff it makes in my times
thanks for all the info guys..keep it up

I talked to a good buddy who I trust. I know what two step is. But here's the thing. I don't have 2 step...but I've held my car at 7-8 k rpms and still couldn't raise more than like 1-2 psi of boost, cause the car is not under load. He told me about the anti-lag, and boost builder options, that you can use ems for. Since I can't afford ems right now...I'm chipping my ecu...when I have the guy write the program for the chip...I'm gonna make sure other then two step...I have a boost builder put on there, so I can spool up to 7psi before I drop the clutch. BOOST AT LAUNCH BABY! Flames'll be flyin!! haha

Anti lag is a feature used on rally cars to keep boost up during shifts and through corners and such. You can also set up on most EMS a shift retard which allows the anti lag to come on between shifts.

Anti lag is something i wouldn't use on the street unless you have a all wheel drive car. Most cars on street tires cant handle the instant power it bring up on the street. Thats why its mostly used on slicks. It will damage valves though after a period of time. I definitely would recommend not using it for long duration especially with a stock engine. Its fine to use for 3-4 second bursts at the tree though.

Thats weird you don't even make a pound of boost at 6500 on a rev limiter. Does crome have a soft cut and hard cut??

The traditional 2-step is basicly fuel cut. To use that as anti-lag, you have to retard timing so that the exhaust gas is still expanding a lot (exploding) as the valves are open. Basicly creates more pressure in the exhaust manifold.

The most effective anti-lag is ignition cut and ignition retard together. Ignition cut allows raw fuel to enter the exhaust manifold, and the next time it fires the ignition (with far-retarded timing), those flames ignite that fuel. It then puts all its expansion/pressure into moving the turbine wheel, not the pistons.

He has a stage 5 60-1, I don't find it odd at all. That turbo & turbine doesn't make boost on lots of 1.8L cars until about 6k rolling, let alone with no load on the motor. I'd much rather launch at 4k with boost than 7k w/o. More torque is put on the parts, but far less than max, as well as far less shock. The later is what kills trannies & axles on a Honda.

I will be using a 6K two-step limiter with a 7K redline ( stock LS motor) on slicks. Max boost is 12 psi. Do you think that'll build decent boost on a preloaded launch with a 50 trim T3/T04 with a stage III o-trim wheel?

If not, I'll ask my tuner about anti-lag, as he'll be tuning the car with Neptune.

A thousand pardons to the OP, not trying to thread jack, just like to learn.

i dont see why it wouldnt make a few pounds, ask the tuner to try just a two step while youre getting tuned and see what it does, if its not enough then have him do an anti lag.

honestly if you dont have enough traction making boost off the line is only going to hurt.

As in spinning? If so, I probably wont be making enough power from this motor (maybe 225 to 250 whp) to make em spin too much, what im really worried about is bogging.

The slicks are 22X8X13's. On an Integra 2dr.

I just got antilag setup by TPS which is a great tool to have on Neptune. I can build 17 psi sitting still. Anything less than 40% throttle is 2 step ( no boost) and anything more than 40% is antilag (building boost). Terrence you shouldnt have a problem bogging at all on 22's if you launch around 6k+ with a little boost
