Default BSPT adaptor bullsheet !?!

Alright, i'm confused. I've read all about how you need to have a bspt to npt adaptor b/c our blocks are threaded for bspt and our oil lines are npt. However, you know tha tlittle disk thing with the nipple on it? Oil pressure sender or whatever it's called, isn't that threaded as bspt? And if it is then why does it just screw into the npt tee. Please flamingo T respond to this b/c i want to buy and adaptor off of ya but my buddy brought this question up and i can't answer it

Your block as well as the oil pressure sensor are both bspt. Bspt will thread into 1/8NPT but will be loose feeling and not seal. Youll notice that if you try to thread 1/8npt will not thread into BSPT because it's too big. I've seen and personally used 1/8npt in the back of the block but the right pieces can be had for only a few bucks local to me so i do it the right way now.

i guess its easier just to replace the sensor than to fix the the threads on the block?

i wanna know also.

Then why are people threading their oil pressure sensor which is bspt threaded into a npt tee? As you say it looses it's seal and messes up so why is flamingo T selling a tee that has 2 npt holes in it instead of a tee that has 1 npt and 1 bspt so that you can screw your oil pressure sensor in it without messing up the threads.

Please tell me reno or anyone else b/c i'm confused on this. That tee is threaded with 2 npt holes isn't it? I wish flamingo T was online right now

So are you saying that you can thread bspt into a npt hole as long as you use teflon tape it'll seal. But if you try and thread a npt into a bspt hole then it'll mess up? I'm not getting something here....

My buddy USDM 4G VTEC is the one that started all this, he even gave me a oil pressure sensor and a npt fitting, i tried it. They threaded perfectly together with gentle turning no cross threading or anything. I know several ppl around here that use flamingo for all their fittings and stuff and i trust the guy too it just seems really confusing and odd to me that he wants us to thread a bspt sensor into a npt tee? Doesn't it seem odd to you also???

Hi, yes, my kit includes a BSPT to NPT adapter and a Tee with NPT adapter.

The reason for the above is the BSPT have 28 threads per inch, NPT have 27 threads per inch.

NPT will not go in BSPT threads easily, but BSPT will go in NPT without a problem , All because the number of threads in each fitting style.

Ideally is to have an BSPT male and BSPT female on the Tee so you can thread the tee in the block and thread the stock oil pressure sender in the Tee, but it's so difficult to make that piece, since there are very very few application other than us, honda guys. So I have to make do with a BSPT adapter and an NPT tee.

basically it's not worth it to strip the block with npt, but if you waste a brass t or oil press sensor it isn't too hard to fix. the aluminum block threads are easy to strip if not using the bspt. teflon the threads on the press sensor and tighten it really well into the t and it'll seal.

Thats what i'm doing. I'm getting the bspt to npt adaptor from Flemenco T and i already have everything else that i need. It's just that nobody sells that adaptor so u have to order it online. My prices for piecing it together were right at Flemenco's prices so if i had it to do over again i'd buy whole kit from him.
