Default Broken Internal Wastegate..

I have a turbo with a broken internal wastegate. Can I just remove the wastegate from the turbo, and run an external wastegate, or do I have to get the Internal wastegate repaired.

Thanks in advance.

I don't see why not, just make sure you block off the hole with a plate.

i've seen one on here. you have to make a custom downpipe and make it all work. it's on here.

I just ran a few searches and can't come up with anything.

Anyone have a link to the thread?

Post a pic of your turbo.

If your going to run an external wastegate, you don't HAVE to make a custom down pipe. If you want to route the waste gate into, then it'll be different, but you can mate those up later on.

Little more info....

Is this a manifold with the wastegate already on it?? Or are you adapting it in before the turbo? Either way, just block off the hole.

well, if you're going to wastegate it before the turbo, you'll have to weld shut the existing wastegate. if you decide you are going to use the existing wastegate port on the turbo, then you'll have to wastegate after the turbo and make up a custom downpipe. that's the only way i see it working

I remember what you are talking about now.... the guy that used his old internal wastegate port. I can't remember what the thread was, maybe in the sohc one or something like that.... you won't find it searching. You can get flanges on ebay, and probably some vendors that is just a plate, assuming you have a turbo where the wastegate port and outlet port are flush.

Anyways, more info....
