Default Brake Boosting?

If this doesn't belong here just delete this thread, i posted it in general discusion too because i have no idea where exactly to post this question

anyone ever brake boost when going from a roll to get an extra jump on the other person?

i've seen it done in videos on the net before but never really thought twice about it till i tried it the other night on my way home and was really shocked at how much faster it made the car jump out.

it seems like it's something people know about but don't ever talk about to other people, like heel-toeing.

anyone have any info or tips on this?

I used to do it all time. It does work well but i always worried about putting more load on the motor than it was tuned for..but i still did it alot

you should only be doing it for a couple seconds so i don't see how you could overload the motor, but did you use ur e-brake or just hold ur brake pedal down like i did?

well, you can brake boost as long as you want so dont assume its a safe thing to do all the time. An EGT gauge might be interesting, i suspect that it gets hot fast. I didnt say 'overload' I said 'more load' than normal acceleration, implying that you might be entering fuel and timing areas that were not tuned for.

I just left foot brake lightly to get it going then really lean on it to make full boost while holding my speed steady, takes about 5-6 sec on my old setup.
