Default Brake booster for vacuum source

i have been searching and trying to see which would be the best vacuum source. i have a GE vacuum manifold. it seems like the best is from the brake booster. Everyone is saying to tap it after the check valves i assume its the grey looking thing. but when looked under the hood i couldnt find that grey looking thing(check valves)? here is the pic that i saw.
if i dont have one what would be the next suggestion for a vacuum source. ill try to get pics of my engine bay.

a vacume source for what? a vacume box or just a single thing?

people use the brake booster for a vacume box because the big line serves as a good pressure source when you have multiple things that need to see vacume/pressure..but if you are just tapping into it for say a boost guage or something just "t" into another vacume line such as the one going to the FPR

oh my car i couldn't even see it from the outside of the rubber.
I would just make sure to put the vacuum manifold between the brake booster line and the intake manifold

the check valve is the grey top-hat looking thing on the bracket right above your brake master cylinder

I taped my GE vac mani there, it works great, solved all my issues as far as bov not working properly, boost gauge not rock solid etc.

On cars that don't have the grey top hat jobby there is a valve that is pressed into the line. It is in the same location and can be seen as a slight bulge. The easiest way to find it is to squeeze the line, it's the hard part. just T in between the bulge and the IM.

Speaking of this GE manifold I got one and I want to get the fittings, but i can't find them anywhere. It seems to be metric fittings. Where should I try looking. I went to Autozone, Lowe's, O'Reily's, muffler shop, the family center. where can I find the 1/2 nipple and the 1/8 nipple
