Doing a little research before I start piecing together my turbo kit.
Just wondering if you guys had any input for name brand bov's. Like HKS, Greddy, TurboXS, etc.
Please let me know your experiences with these, the good, the bad, and the down right fugly!
Also, I just wanted to clarify that you use a 2.5" exhaust for N/A and 3" for boosted

HKS sounds like a bird chirping which personally i dont like and turbo xs heard gets stuck alot due to the design. personal favorite is tial 50mm been running it for 2 years and still going strong.

50mm tial BOV for the win, not only the sound which IMO isnt super impressive, but the quality is 100% and holds shitload of boost.

tial is more of a fuction verse form in this case form is the sound and sound isnt near as important than fuction of the bov

well IMO they are only like 150 used which IMO isnt that bad, they are a proven product which is what i would definitly go with if you want relieablility

TiAL is nice but quiet on low boost, but is better at holding higher boost
HKS SSQ is sequential on low boost but would not be sequintial on high boost, in which case it sounds like a high pitched whistle or a 'bird chirp'.
I had the HKS on my previous setup and now im going for the Greddy Type-RS which is loud and makes a 'whoosh' sound.

Tial is my pic...i have one and wouldn't trade it for anything. The only other BOV that i would consider having is the HKS SSQV because it does sound nice...even on low boost (which the Tial doesn't do so well)

I have a HKS SSQV im trying to sell now . It sounds nice on low boost but i'm planning on 17psi so I dont want a damn bird chirping from my engine bay

When you guys refer to low boost, are you referring to meaning 7-11lbs? Thats probably what I'm gonna be running on my LS

why 2?

heres some of the reasons..

- mad bov soundzzzz
- one fails, the other one still works
- both fail, ebay ftw
- cost 1/4 of price.
- hks design is supposed to work well on low/high boost levels..

My bros would start making a 'chirp' noise on 13lbs, up to 8psi mine would be fully sequential.

i think that the tial bov is superior overall, but i also think when it comes to blow off valves alot of people want ''sound'' verses performance. i think of it this way if it works who cares how it sounds you know, thats just to get peoples attent

I agree TiAL for the win. Can't beat it for quality. Just be careful as some are known for leaking fittings and not holding boost. When I used the HKS racing BOV it leaked under vacuum no matter how tight I got it. This caused a vacuum leak since I have a MAF sensor and caused lean conditions and unfiltered air to enter the engine. If you want function get the TiAl, if you want sound the HKS racing bypass valve sounds nice and holds boost really good. Just leaked at vacuum. I'm currently usinig the Blitz dual drive and it sounds ok but the fittings it came with leaked bad. replaced those and its holding 20 psi on my GT30R just fine, we'll see on the dyno next week if it can hold 26.

Yeah I'm trying to avoid HKS if I can. Tial seems to be the one for the best quality.
Lemme know how the dyno turns out!
