Default BOV vacuum question

If I were to weld on a vacuum nipple on to my i/c piping, approx. 3" away up stream of my bov, would I be able to use that as an individual vacuum source for the bov?

why would you do that? the bov should have it's own nipple which is suppose to go to any vac source on the intake manifold after the throttle.
