I will apologize on behalf of myself and the other contributors here, as we didn't mean to deflect your ideas.

But, back to your point. This is really a matter of preference and price point more than it is a "what's everyone using". Yes, many use TiAL, and have for years, as well as GReddy, HKS, Turbonetics, Turbosmart, Turbo XS, etc...

But what we have noticed is that your engine's vacuum, the turbocharger used, the amount of boost pressure used, location, etc, all contribute to sound resonance that may or may not be desirable. Also, quality of materials. As much as Turbo XSs were popular, the piston inside the valve would always seize up overtime from lack of lubrication, and the degradation of the valve's spring. They were simplistically made and designed, and a bitch to keep running, and really annoying after a while. Many people sold their RFLs within 6 months, because it was ALWAYS BLOWING OFF , and the owner just couldn't stand it after a while.

Really, I'd look to the Genuine brands and go from there. The only exception is the NGR Type S GReddy Replica. Those bring back the good ole days, and still sound great.

My Greddy RS has been dead reliable since I got it in 2008. Would recommend. Not very noisy but my BOV is mounted behind the bumper.

The Type S and HKS SSQV both have that really annoying, teenager-esk squeek.
