I'm running a Vortec BOV. I haven't really paid too much attention to what else is out there but the Vortec just kinda sounds like a big rush of air, not high pitched, no cracking whip sounds.

I always thought it kinda sounded like a quick blast from a fire extinguisher. It also whistles when cruising around town which is annoying

I have a HKS SSQV for 3 years now... I had zero problem with it... IMO its the best looking BOV on the market... sound great too...

anyone know where I can get those insert they sell to change the sound ???

SCC did a comparo on lots of BOV's and yes there is a difference not just sound. They measured turbo cavitation. That is when the TB is closed and pressure builds up all the way back to the turbo. The Apex'i was one of the very best for not damaging the turbo and not leaking. If I could find a link to the article i would post it here. BOV's are not just for sound.

I use the HKS SSQ and it is awesome! Sure, it is really loud, but theres nothing wrong with that. From what I've heard, they can hold a lot of boost without leaking. Sounds good too!
