boosting and tuning obd 2?
ok im reasearching diferent possibilities for a future project. ive alredy done a boosted 95 civic ex so i know the ins and outs of boost, but OBD II is a totaly different animal. I really like the 99-00 civic si and the new edelbrock kit that just came out for it. heres my question for you guys that have experience with OBD II: is it possible to tune the setup beyond the confines of the kits fuel and ignition management and still pass inspection/emisions? or should i just forget it and stick with OBD I? any info would be helpful here, thanks.

I dont believe you can tune the Edlebrock kit. It comes with a piggy back controller for 4 extra injectors right thats set from Edelbrock? So basically it just uses your standard fuel and timing maps (from ECU) and then squeezes some extra fuel in there using the extra injectors.
No idea how it takes care of timing and keeping the ECU from flipping out when it sees boost.
You can chip OBD2 ECUs...but right now there isnt a lot of support out there for it. One guy from Malaysia is selling OBD2 stuff and there is a video on PGMFI of a guy in Vegas who shows you how to desolder and OBD2 ECU (using some sophisticated equipment).
Honestly I havent seen anything user friendly for the typical DIY tuner and I havent heard many good reviews about the Edelbrock Kit either.

Re: boosting and tuning obd 2? (xenocron)
i know the new kit canot be tuned. as far as ignition i read a good article in the new issue of Turbo about the kit that explained the new ecu that edelbrock is using in the b16 kit. basically has built in sensors that intercept signals and modify them b4 it gets to the ecu just like any other piggyback unit. the kit only runs 7 psi so even with the stock map sensor it shouldnt freak out when it hits boost.
