Boosting a D series.... have a question.....
Well i am pretty much done with gathering my parts for my custom set up..... now I have a question. Right now the motor is stock. If possible I would like to boost 10psi and hit around 215-230whp. Does that sound like a reasonable number to run on a stock D series? I have seen people on here making around that much power, but when I asked someone that would be helping me with my install/tune he said that might be a bit much. The car is my daily driver, so its not like I'm going to be beating on it all the time. Any help would be appreciated.
As long as the car is tuned well you should be fine, but I would try and keep it around 200whp daily just to be safe, then turn it up when racing if you want. I guess it you don't beat on your car very hard you can run more boost daily. I run about 215whp (9-10psi) daily, more at the track (12-14psi), and I have been raping the **** out of my car for about 14 months everytyime I drive it. When I bought the car it only had 64k miles though, it has 103k miles now, and I did buy it from a girl. But yeah just get some good fuel management and have it tuned well and don't be suprised if a rod snaps, they are pretty tiny.

i agree with beer tuning is what is going to keep your car together so make sure you have a respected tuner tune your car and you should be good. best of luck to you on your build.

Just have them tune your car very conservative and it will run forever, and watch out for what kind of gas you use, one bad tank and i now have 10% leak down in one cylinder
luckily i heard the detonation.
luckily i heard the detonation. I used to run 10psi daily on my old stock sohc back in the day. Tuning is key. It should make around 200-220whp depending on the setup and tuning.
