Default Boosting the B20 ... issues?

First of all I'd like to note that I did perform a search and found a few realitive threads but none of them yielded the info i was looking for... so on w/ my thread.
I'm thinking about purchasing a B20 longblock, four a couple reasons. 1) its $350, 2) my engine has 143,XXX miles on it and burns more oil than gas. I really love B20/VTEC setup's and love N/A engines but I honestly can resist the urge to boost. So heres my question(s):
How 'soft' are stock b20 internals? I have heard that you can boost just fine on them and that you cant boost anything on them... but truthfully how safe is it to boost a b20?
Also, how much boost(about) could I safley run? I'm not looking to be boosting a LOT but enough to pull some good times.
Overall, how would you rate the b20 when thinking about turbocharging?
Thanks for anyone who replies, its MUCH appreciated.
Regards,
Trevor

Couple users on the board have had issues with the b20 sleeves cracking pretty easy with some boost. Try a search and you can see the pix. One case was not bad tuning just hte sleeves couldnt hold the power.

Just don't boost too much on the stock block with a simple FMU setup.

If you want to boost more(10-12psi), get something like hondata to run everything, and get it tuned well.

So I could run 10~12psi on stock internals, as long as i upgrade the ecu and some other things?

I would not recommend it. B20's are need spot on tuning. Any form od mistuning and detonation might lead to the sleeves cracking. Weak sleeves + BAD r/s + boost = POS. If your planning low boost on a b20 VTEC, too much torque will be available at low rpm. Traction problem.

let me tell you about the ppl that have run boost on there b20's that post in this forum

1) they run really high boost levels (over 1bar (14.5psi)) on engines that are not built for it
2) obviously they didnt tune there cars...most of which have detonated and left them with a b20 with cracked sleeves

if your gonna boost a b20, keep it safe, only boost 6-7 psi everyday and 8 race (if you even want to take the chance) on stock internals...and another thing, TUNE TUNE TUNE TUNE...its all about tunning, and it probably wouldnt hurt you if you had the A/F alittle on the rich side, the thing you want to stay away from is having it lean out, heat up and detonate...

you might want to look into a supercharger...that might be more economiocal for you, in the long run that is

too much gas will cause detonation to. running rich will make carbon build up and some call that the black death just tune and keep it around 6-7 like he said

superchargers have a crappy VE and horrid heat soak and dont produce power like turbo would @ the same RPMS... Turbo is better
